Your comfort and safety is important, so this is usually fine. I do ask that your friend does not interfere in any way with the shoot unless I specifically ask for help i.e. with reflectors, and I may ask that they sit nearby as indoor locations can become very cramped with equipment. I respectfully ask that your guests refrain from taking their own photos of the session.
