Nerea Studio Shoot - Outtakes

Following my last post (and also because I haven't done much new model photography lately) here are a few out-takes from a studio shoot I did a while back. This was in South London; next time I'll be looking for one nearer so I can take more kit! Anyway, I've no idea why I didn't like these as much at the time. Nerea is doing very well and getting lots of shoots, so I'm lucky we worked together before she hits the big time!

Brick Lane and Spitalfields

I often take my camera out and wander this area, either in a lunch break or at the weekend. It has a colourful history and is famous for the market (both old and the redeveloped one) and the numerous (understatement of the year!) curry houses, all of which proudly proclaim they are the best in the UK.

However there is also a lot more to the area. The traditionally 'urban' feel makes it ideal for photoshoots (see earlier posts) and the recent redevelopment is bringing many more shoppers and food fans. It is also extremely popular with creative people such as artists and photographers. Anyway here are a few random images from my walk, hope you enjoy them..

A new style for Amber Glow

If you've been here before you might notice the style has changed. The usual front page with central model photograph has gone (well it's still here, just not at the front) and has been replaced with my blog. I've done this for two reasons. Firstly, as an experiment to pick up more Google traffic, as the page will change regularly -which the original one didn't. This means that the site should become more 'sexy' or attractive to search engines, meaning more people will see it. It's all part of a 'search engine optimization' or SEO campaign that I'm undertaking right now. This means a lot of work analyzing search queries and ensuring my website is structured to be as efficient as possible- a full-time job in itself! Indeed some people make a living helping others to improve their sites. The obvious downside is that only one person can top the Google, Bing or Yahoo rankings so it's a continuous battle to be the top fashion photographer in London, the best make up artist, fish & chip shop..you get my point. Oh well, nobody said it was easy (sorry, Chris Martin) and I'll settle for the Top 10 photographers list anyway :)

Secondly, I can add more photos in this format, and the content may change several times per week. This means I can deliver interesting stories for you the viewer, about fashion photography, the world of art, or even the weather if I like (well, I am British). If you have any good ideas about what you'd like to see, why not contact me or drop me an email at mark@amberglowphotography.com? Of course, you can also do this if you would like a model, glamour or boudoir photoshoot, or even wish to purchase an image.

Less work, more photography

I finally finished my degree course at Birkbeck College today, with an exam in 'Social Issues in Computing'. This is the culmination of four years hard toil - it takes that long when you're a part time student with a full time job. As well as being useful for my main job, many of the modules are also useful for a photography business, as included are accounts and presentation skills.

Now I'm finished, I have much more free time for photography and general laziness! I will get the results in August , and (unless I'm really unlucky) won't have to retake any exams, and will graduate around October/November time. Who will take the photographs I wonder?

Anyway, I'm having a weekend off soon to celebrate / take photos in York and Manchester, and will then try to concentrate on improving my fashion modelling portfolio by booking as many model photo shoots here in London as possible! Hopefully I will also get time at some point to shoot some landscapes - and also paint them, as I've just bought some oil paints. Wish me luck, i will post my efforts on this blog if they're any good..

Victoria - Soho Photo Shoot

Although I haven't yet updated the site with the last one, I recently met up with Victoria Dmitrienko again for a second shoot - this time around Greek Street, Old Compton Street and the surrounding areas of Soho. It was more unplanned than last time as we just wandered around and used whichever locations looked good, and I found some inspiration from the cafes we stopped at as they usually had their own artwork inside! We found a Spanish bar with a superb old-style jukebox (Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd etc) and used that for some shots too. Enjoy the previews below.
